True. The table is linked and not resident in the db.
Build a query using the linked table as your recordset. Set the criteria you want in your query and filter as needed. Export your query to excel.

Read this tutorial by Crystal Long. She will show you how to build a database and extract data from it using queries and reports. Access has a steep learning curve. It is not as intuitive as Excel. This practice will not allow you to do data math manipulation. I prefer to be in control of data. I will convert the Excel file to a .csv and import that file. Using the import wizard, I can then set the Import Specifications as needed selecting which type of data each column is. Not letting Access guess. I then save the import spec and use it in the VBA code for importing using the DoCmd.Transfertext functionality.
