    how to use data is in access database as sheet?

    Hello!
    I have a problem if you can please help me. I have a database I have linked a excel sheet to it. the data which I put in excel sheet is coming to access database but I am unable to use this data from database to somewhere else. Kindly help me.

    I want to bring some data to another excel sheet. Like I want to bring data of the on month or make a list of payments received just total payment and paying person name and my no with book no and receipt no.

    I tried to import to excel sheet from access database but it says there is no table in database.

    True. The table is linked and not resident in the db.
    Build a query using the linked table as your recordset. Set the criteria you want in your query and filter as needed. Export your query to excel.

    Read this tutorial by Crystal Long. She will show you how to build a database and extract data from it using queries and reports. Access has a steep learning curve. It is not as intuitive as Excel. Good luck with your project. Continue to post your questions on specific issues. While this forum is here to help, it is not a site for teaching you the basics of Excel or Access but to help you with specific needs or issues within those programs.

    I have the same problem w Excel doing this...so I build a macro to scan the excel column and 'force' all values to be text. This way Access isnt confused what is a number and what is text.

    This practice will not allow you to do data math manipulation. I prefer to be in control of data. I will convert the Excel file to a .csv and import that file. Using the import wizard, I can then set the Import Specifications as needed selecting which type of data each column is. Not letting Access guess. I then save the import spec and use it in the VBA code for importing using the DoCmd.Transfertext functionality.
