I have a table as mentioned below:
bgl-567
asn-678
asn-567
bgl-987
kol-698
kol-960
asn-592
The data that starts with bgl should display banglore, that starts with kol should display kolkata and the data that start with asn should display asansol in another cell. I want a formula that can help me getting the desired output as my report is of 16,000 lines and its not possible to write it manually in each cell. I am still learning excel hence facing problem in doing so. The output should be as shown below:
bgl-567 bangalore
asn-678 asansol
asn-567 asansol
bgl-987 bangalore
kol-698 kolkata
Please help!!!
Please take a moment to read the forum rules and then amend your thread title. Think about the people who will try to help you. They need to find out from your title if they want to open your post. Everybody who posts here wants help. That goes without saying, so you don't have to say it.
Think like searching with Google. What would you put in there? "find value from code" maybe? "translate code to text", "lookup part of text string" will describe what you want to do.
Edit your post and change the title. Then you will find a wealth of knowledge and advice here.
