Thread: append query using and unbound form and adding record to Tbl w auto numb primery key

Hi

I have an add new client button on my fmRequest (main form window) which hyperlinks to another form called fmClient.

Also on the fmRequest I have a drop down arrow which slects the client frist name and last name.

When I click on the add new client button (on fmRequest) it goes to the fmClient where I enter in the following: Title, FirstName, LastName ,Department,Telephone,Email,Fax,ClientComment

once I close this and go down to the drop down box the clients first name and last name is not there.

I have tried following similar method to that of this site and using an append query.

However, I get an error and believe that it is because it is tryting to append to a table that has a primary key that generate and auto number???

The error says:
fmRequests set 0 field(s) to Null due to a type conversion failure and it didnt add 1 record to the table due to key violations 0 records due to lock violations and 1 records due to validation rule violatinons.

Help on this is much appreciated.

Would you post your db with some sample data. In this manner, we can look at the db and determine what is happening to cause you to get this error message.

I have resloved this one.....but my post regarding: "combo box to display multiple records in a form" hasn't beeen resolved yet...but has been flagged as resolved.
