Thread: Need help searching DNA data string

I have a set of 80 character strings of data. I want to compare these to a single template string character by character. So, for each data string I want to know if it stops matching the template string at position 1, or position 2 or position 3, etc.
I can do this in some incredibly awkward way using the CONCATNATE and MID functions, but it seems there should be a better way.

Welcome to the forum

You would do best to post a sample workbook showing your typical template strings and strings that you need to evaluate, and perhaps Before and After examples.

It should clearly illustrate your problem and not contain any sensitive data.

Are you talking Excel? You have posted in the Access forum.
