Unwanted auto fill of background color

This seems like it should be such an easy thing to fix, but I'm completely at a loss! I'm working on a spreadsheet, and I have filled a row of cells with a certain background color. Then, when I go to the next row, I begin entering information, and as soon as I hit tab or enter to leave the cell, it automatically changes to have the same background color as the cells above it. Then I have to go back in and manually change the cell format to have no background color. This is really irritating. Can anyone help me? I've tried clearing conditional formatting, and I looked for an option in the autocomplete section of Options. But, I couldn't find anything that helped. This is driving me crazy, and wasting time. Please help!!
