"Open with" Excel in Vista
Sorry, this question is as much Vista related as it is Excel, but I am only having the problem with Excel 2007.
I want to open space delimited files with Excel from windows explorer. Previously I could right click on the file and "open with" Excel. With Office 2007, I don't get the option to "open with" Excel 2007 and when I browse to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\excel.exe, Excel does not show up in the list of installed programs, nor does it appear the next time I try to "open with". Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Simon |

G'day Simon and welcome to the forum,
That weird that you can not find the excel.exe file. I looked at mine it there on the path file you posted. Looks like a search is involved. Have a look at the picture below. Try these steps. Find your file that you what to open. Click on the file. Then go to the down arrow next Open at the status bar, click once, then select 'Choose Default Program....' Then a pop up box will appear 'Open with'. Now choose the program you want to use to open this file. You may have to click on the arrow located on the right side of 'Other Programs' for your other program to appear to choose from. Please note: The other red circle is important. Please untick this field, unless your 200% sure that each time you open that file it will open with that choosen program and only that program. ![]() Hope that helps
