Keeps configuring application

Hi
I am having major problems. I had 2007 standard but needed publisher and acess upgraded so went back and bought 2007 professional. After i installed it, when i went to use any of the applications, windows keeps configuring them. I used diagnostics and repair to no avail. It was even doing this to my Frontpage 2003. Uninstalled 2007 and frontpage, rebooted and tried again. Same thing. I am tearing my hair out. The only message i get is in excel and a box comes up with stdole32.tlb in it and a ok box. I am running Vista ultimate. Can anyone help, please. I have spent 6 hours on this.
Regards

Hi
Yes I have completely uninstalled every office application and then reinstalled 2007 again. Tried it as user, tried it as administrator, tried changing permissions, nothing works. Don't know if it is a conflict between Vista and Office or what. It is really getting me down. Went on the net and found some others that had this problem, tried all suggestions, nothing worked.

I wouldn't expect a conflict between Office 2007 & Vista, they should work together.

Hi,

Is there a stdole32b.tln file in the C:\Windows\System directory?

This posting seems to indicate the problem is with a registry key, and post #9 seems to suggest that the recommended solution in post #7 has worked.

If not do any of the following links help or have you already tried them.

Are there any add-ins being loaded by Excel. The following post seems to suggest some conflict.

Hi
The file is in system 32 and excel is the only one that I get this message with. All the other office 2007 also just keep installing and configuring everytime I open them. I have tried changing permissions, and also logged in as administrator. Didn't work. Thought I could reload the file stdole32.tlb but couldn't find it on the cd. I am about to trash windows 2007

Hi
This morning I did a system restore to get rid of 2007 and get my Office xp pro back. Even so it still had the stdole32.tlb file missing which I had to pick up from the disk. Windows installer configured the old applications only once and is now working ok with my old apps. I then installed office 2007 on my laptop which is running windows xp and not vista. Office 2007 is working like a dream on the laptop. So obviously it is an issue with Vista. It just irritates me that when I bring work home from the office that uses excel 2007, I have to drag out my laptop to do it. I won't attempt to install 2007 on my main computer until I know for sure what the problem is. Has anyone else that is using Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Professional ran into this problem.
Regards
