In Excel 2007 I have several conditional formatting rules to change cell shading when the value in another cell meets criteria. All the rules work, but the cell shading does not immediately update; I have to refresh or "redraw" the screen by scrolling down, then scrolling back up.
I'm not experiencing this problem on Excel for Mac 2008 or with Excel 2003. Any thoughts on how to fix this refresh problem would be helpful. Or maybe it is a known bug.
Many thanks.
Does it refresh if you hit F9?

Unfortunately, no. It doesn't refresh on F9.
Interesting - encountered the very same issue today, and can find a very limited number of threads out there with folks experiencing the same. However no solutions that I have been able to locate.
Description of issue:
Conditional formatting applied to cell based on chosen data validation criteria in another cell does not refresh immediately upon changing selection. I can get the formatting to correctly update if I "F2" and hit enter in any cell in the workbook.
Very odd error, I tried to attach a simple example of the problem (hopefully attachment worked).
I have experienced exactly the same problem when I open a spreadsheet originally developed in Excel 2003 with conditional formatting, the screen doesn't refresh in Excel 2007. This is clearly a bug in 2007 as if you page down and up again they all appear, or if you select the cells they appear so it's a screen redrawing issue as identified.
I wonder if they'll release a patch.
