    Excel Binary Format .xlsb

    Hi All,

I'm a new member to the forum. I've used binary format Excel 2007 to compress my excel files for a few weeks now. However, I've heard there are some inherent bugs in binary format which can become a hindrance. Something like inaccurate calculations done by excel etc. Please let me know if it is ok to use binary format and if any of you guys have come across any issues with binary format in Excel 2007.

    Regards...

I personally haven't heard of or experienced problems using the XLSB format, but that's not to say there aren't any.

As for calculations - Excel uses binary calculation for all numeric functions, which can mess with some calculations when checking if two numbers match, for example (e.g. Excel shows 400 as the result, but it's actually 399.999999999999999999 due to binary math) - but that affects all file types, not just XLSB.
