    grouping and subtotaling

    Hi all,
I have a crosstab query that I exported from access 2007 to excel 2007. I want to group and subtotal on the first and second columns. But when I do, I get either or. I hope this make sense. Let me give you an example of the layout:

    Code:
     Date Project Outcome: Customer
The first three columns are the row heading and the customer column is the column heading.
I deleted the date field because it was given me the project and outcome for every date by customer. I just want the sum of project and outcome per customer. There's 10 different projects and 15 different outcomes. For customer A; Project 1; Sum of Outcome A=5. Project 2; Sum of Outcome B=2 and so on.
For customer B; Project 1; Sum of Outcome A=3. Project 2; Sum of Outcome B=8 and so on. I hope I didn't lose anyone by my awful attempt at examples.
Can anyone help me on how to group and subtotal this spreadsheet.
    Thanks

    Re: grouping and subtotaling

This sounds like a great job for a pivot table.

    Thanks
