Thread: Excel 2007 Freezes when Pasting

I've been having issues with Excel 2007 freezing when I paste into cells. Sometimes it just takes a long time to complete the paste (from a few seconds to several minutes) and other times it doesn't seem to regain responsiveness at all (I have left it running for up to 30 minutes before and finally had to close it with ctrl+alt+delete). It is doing it with both new blank workbooks I start from scratch and existing workbooks. All of the workbooks I have been working with have been small, no more than 30 rows/10 or so columns, and some of the workbooks only consisted of a few populated cells. It seems to have particular trouble pasting formulas (even simple ones like =2+2) and most of the paste special commands. This problem is not consistent and sometimes pastes immediately without any problems.

I have tried doing a complete uninstall, rebooting, and doing a fresh install but it did not fix the problem. I have tried running excel in safe mode, and I have the same problem there. I have went to the microsoft website for help and installed the office 2007 service pack 2, which also had no effect on my problem.

I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit. Aside from this excel issue my computer is fast and I'm not used to a wait time for simple procedures in my applications. Aside from the paste issue in excel, it also runs fast. I used excel 2003 (now uninstalled) prior to this on the same machine without any issues, but just switched to excel 2007 because my company upgraded. I'm stumped and I need to do some work from home in excel this weekend, but excel is next to useless at the moment without normal pasting functionality.
