Thread: Increment project count for each month in range

Hi,

I have a case here which I am not able to solve.
I have 2 columns (1st has start month and 2nd has end month)
I need to first make sure that the entries in 2nd column is greater than or equal to first and if it is true then in another sheet I need to add one to the "no. of projects" column corresponding to the month.

it looks like this, in the 1st sheet,

Project Start month end month
project1 june-11 mar-12
project 2 nov-11 nov-12

in the 2nd sheet i have,

months no. of projects
june-11 1
july-11 1
aug-11 1
sep-11 1
.
.
nov-11 2
.
.
mar-12 1

I need the count in the no. projects to increase when i add a new row in the 1st sheet and all the months between start month and end month should be added by 1.

Please help me with this. And it is quite urgent as well. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, it is much easier to work on problems if you give us a sample file. You can attach a sample by clicking on the "Go Advanced" below the message area and then on the Paper Clip Icon above the advanced message area.

There's no need to upload your original file. Take a copy of it, replace confidential data with dummy data, delete everything that is not necessary to solve the issue and then post that version.
