A little preliminary information to set up the scenario:

We are using a Product Data Management (PDM) system that links many different types of files together with variables and data. When a "Project" is created a folder with a set of structured sub-folders are created and named. Information is put into a "datacard", ie. customer name and address, project number, etc., and this information is stored as variables within this folder structure.

When we create a Bill of Material (BOM) it is through a right mouse button that opens an excel template that is then automatically populated with variables because the template is set up for that through the Document Properties. When creating the BOM more information is added into the BOM datacard that would be unique for this excel file and not used by other documents within the project, ie. revision level, date, etc. The engineer does not enter this info in the cells - it is atuomatically done.

The engineer adds information to the BOM that is specific for this project. Sometimes, depending on the project, more than one BOM is needed and the engineer would then copy the worksheet. All of the Document Properties would be copied over and everything looks fine. The engineer saves the file.

Inside the PDM this document then enters a workflow where it is checked into the vault and is then sent to be approved or revised. Once it is approved there is a transition state that automatically bumps up the revision level of any document that was approved.

If you were to open the BOM up you will notice that the revision level is now 01 on all worksheets.

Here is where it gets a little odd.

If that BOM needs to be revised, the engineer checks it out of the PDM vault and opens it up. He would make the needed changes and save the file. Then he checks it back into the vault and it enters the workflow again to be approved. Once it is approved the revision changes from 01 to 02 automatically. The problem is this only happens on the first worksheet and not on any other ones.

This is odd. All of the other document properties transfer between worksheets fine. The revision worked fine but only the first time. When it was originally created the revision cell was empty until it was approved and then it was populated on all worksheets but it will only update on the first worksheet.

Any ideas? I prefer a fix and not a work around.

Thanks;
