Hi
I have a list of permits and a number of stores which have that permit in various states in the US. I want to add the number of stores with particular permits. I can do it using sort and sum but that is liable to have human errors.
Attached please see an excel sheet.
All the best

Is this is?
If you don't mind, it's added in last instance of some range and not in the first.
Tip: No need to write + in front of the formula
"Relax. What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind!"
Thanks Zabor but I am not sure I explained what I want.
What I have here is the total of the number of stores which are WB, >10 and then add up the totals in coulumn R ( only the ones within this criteria). In order to get this I have resorted the columns as you will seee ig you open data and record sort having highlighted columns M:Q. Ideally I would like ot make these calculations from the original data as listed in A:E as I will want to produce more conbinations.
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks again
Mark
yea, well, I had to remove your SUM value from Q1 and I put it in P1.
If you delete value in Q1 does my approach work?
(See example above).
"Relax. What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind!"
Hi Zbor
I left your P1 empty.
if I total the entries in Column P I get 187,833 and there are only 68,030 to begin with. I would love to send you the file and learn form you how to get it done. I have made some mistakes elsewhere doing this as I have had to make 101 separate calculations and manually allocate them which has resulted in the data not balancing. I can live with that as my clients will not see the workings and I want to have it put in an access file which will be so much easier to manage.
I need to study this but there is not the time.
