I have a bit of a unique situation, I am comparing 2 VERY long lists of companies(around 1400 rows!) for work and my boss wants me to find which values are in list 1 but are NOT in List 2.
I tried setting them up side by side, selecting both columns then doing "conditional formatting">Highlight cell rules>duplicate values. This seemed to work except that some of the terms in List 2 would get falsely highlighted because the words in the company name could be found somewhere else in that same List 2.
SEE ROUGH PICTURE BELOW For example, say a company name in List 2 would be "Apple Dragon", even though there was no "Apple Dragon" in List 1 it would be falsely highlighted. I found out this is because it would find a 1st company in List 2 that had the word "Apple" in it, and a completely different company in List 2 that had the word "dragon" in it. See below for an example
List 1 List 2
Titan Industries Apple Dragon
Zenith Corporation Burger King
McDonalds Apple Sticks
Dragon Burger
So knowing that, Is there anyone who could tell me if it is even possible to figure out which companies are in List 1 but not in List 2 without making any mistakes? I am not very good at Excel so if you could clearly state any answers I would appreciate it SO much.
Sorry the list's formatting got screwed up, see word attachment for the right lists
List 1
Titan Industries
Zenith Corporation
McDonalds
List 2
Apple Dragon
Burger King
Apple Sticks
Dragon Burger
