Hi
I have attached the excel with the formulas

the no of elapsed days gives me 0
this shud depend onthe day in cell E9 and not counting today
for example if i select jul 01 then not counting today it is 0 which is fine
but if i select any other day of th emonth and date then still it gives me 0
i tested the formula for elapsed days by removing today and adding yesterdays date

OK, you'll have to help me out a little because I'm confused about what you want the formula to do now?
You've selected a future date in your example, 6th December 2011. What do you expect the result to be in that case given that it's 1st July today?
You really need to explain what you want in all possible scenarios, surely the elapsed days so far this month (excluding today) is zero if today is the first of the month?
Audere est facere
i am thankfull for ur help
scenarios:
1. if the day month and the year are selected for future then it should pop up an error that the date is in future
2. if the previous month is selected , still there should be a message saying that the date selected is not in the current month, but this will be only an alert message, since the count of business days and the elapsed days must only indicate the current month in both the scenarios.
3. if the year in the drop down is changed to 2010 then the formula for elapsed days will always be equal to the business days inthat month also selected from the drop down
4. if the year inthe dropdown is changed to future year then the result for elapsed days will always be zero
and the result for business days will depend onthe month selected inthat year but all comes with an alert message that "the date selected is future date"
5. if it is only the current year then the 3 and 4 scenarios must occur
hope i made it clear
please advice
