Please Help, Have Not Found Soultion

    Hi Guys,

What I am trying to do is to prevent an attached Excel 2007 document from being open by other sources such as Google documents. The Excel document can or will be sent by either Firefox or Internet Explorer.

The reason for only wanting Excel to open the document is I have locked and locked with password the document to prevent others from seeing the formulas or changing the document and then complaining that it does not work or doesn't work as it is design to.

I have done a number of searches but found nothing that actually worked or solved the problem.

I want to Thank those that provide answers in advance for this problem I am having.

As far as I know you can't stop people being able to open it in Open Office etc

the only way that would be possible would be if you could find a file format that is not useable via open office, google docs, etc within excel.

thats simply not possible any other way. if a program is designed to open xls files, then its going to open xls files. simple as that

MAYBE you could create some kind of VB code in your excel file so it can figure out what program has opened it, and if its not excel to instant close, possibly with a popup message saying "please use excel" or something? i dunno if thatd be possible or not, but its the only even remote chance of doing what you want that i can think of

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

PLEASE PM WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THIS AND I WILL DELETE THIS POST
Quoting entire posts clutters the forum and makes threads hard to read !
