Hi, I'm not as Excel savvy as many on this board and I would appreciate some assistance. I need to export a list of URLs from Excel into a UTF-8 file. I read some helpful tips on this board and I followed some, but I'm running into a few hiccups I haven't been able to problem solve through. Any comments are welcome:
When I save in excel to a text file, it automatically defaults to ANSI coding in Notepad. So, anything I save automatically is in a different format. Because of that, I reconfigured my Notepad to default to UTF-8, however I can't get any Excel files (*tst, cvs, etc.) to open in it. If I save an excel file as *txt or cvs, no files saved with those extensions come up as menu options for me to open in Notepad.Any thoughts on what I did wrong?
I also installed an Excel addin that offers to save in unicode cvs so I could then open that file in Notepad, but since it opens as Unicode and not UTF-8 - am I already mixing up the file formats and defeating the purpose?
So, in a nutshell, my challenge is I tried a few tips to try to save Excel 2007 files in a text format that is compatible with UFT-8 but nothing so far seems to have worked. Like I said, I am not nearly as knowledgeable on how to do this, so thanks for humoring meQ
