    Conditional formatting changes font

    Hello

My spread sheet was created in Excel 2003, I'm now using it in 2007.
In conditional formatting, i only want to change the font color when the condition has been met. When i do so, it also changes the font to something different. The option to change the font and the font size is greyed out so it can't be changed at all. Is there a way around this or do i have to change my condition? What is the point of having those features there if they can't be used?

I'm new to this. I hope my question is clear

    Thankyou in advance,,,Cristan

Are you using the spreadsheet in Compatibility Mode? If so, try saving as a .xlsx file and then close and re-open it... check the conditions then.

If still not right, can you post the workbook or similar sample to see what the issue might be?

    Re: Conditional formatting changes font

I converted the file. It's not in compatibility mode anymore. I can now change the font color without it changing the font to something different. However, the font and size features are still greyed out and cannot be used. How can i fix that?

Thank you,,,I was trying to get around that for a couple of days,,, Thanks again

    Re: Conditional formatting changes font

When you select the Font tab, you will see a note at the bottom:

For Conditional Formatting you can set Font Style, Underline, Color and Strikethrough.

So you can't change the actual Font or Size.. a bit misleading, but I think it is just using the same dialogue as the Format Cells option...

See here for more, and a VBA way to do it, if interested:
