    Formula references an answer from another formula.

    My skill level: Novice
    Version: Excel 2007

    I have a very simple spreadsheet. I need to figure out the productivity value as specified by the formula given to me. Then the weekly productivity average has to be averaged for the month. I thought I had it figured out but only the formula that I input into the cell shows up where I believe the answer should be. What am I doing incorrectly?

    A macro is not really desired for the answer. I believe that there has to be a way to do this all on one sheet.

    Thanks in advance.

    Figured out my own answer. Cell formula was fat fingered by me. Should be =IF(ISERROR(J32/J28),"-",J32/J28) and had =IF(ISERROR(J32/J28),"0",J32/J28) instead. Swear I scratched my head for an hour on that. Do not know how many times I swore at that. Sorry.

    Just select the cell, F2 and Enter.

    Well, it looks as though it's formatted as Text, but it's not.

    I pressed F2 and Enter and it works, though I don't quite know.

    Could be that it's picked up the text attribute from one of the merged cells ... Merged cells are really bad things; avoid if possible.

    If what you're looking for is to NOT display the formula, and to display the results of the formula instead, then this is your answer:

    Click the cell (J34);
    Either, go click in the formula bar, or press F2 on the keyboard;
    Press enter.

    Your formula seems to be displaying as text.

    If that's not what you're asking, then be a little more clear and I'd be glad to help!

    Good luck!

    Merged so it prints pretty for who its for. (I am a very Jr. SysAdmin who gets asked to do these "simple things", I am not very well versed in Excel but I am pretty good with AD .) Was given an example hand written sheet and instructed to make it look similar. I figured out it was just a typo in my formula, but now I can not figure out how to mark this thread as solved. I am starting to think it is Monday.
