I have put the numbers 1-31 in A3:A33 to indicate the date of any month.
I want the number corresponding to todays date to be highlighted with background color.
:04.02.2012 example:

3
4 <---- Background color goes here since it's the 4th of this month.
5
6
....
Is it possible to also put background color in B6,C6,D6,E6 and F6 when "date 4"(A6) is colored?

Highlight the range that you want and then>>Format>>Conditional Formatting>>Rules>>put this formula.
(DAY(TODAY())=$A3)
