Excel automatically displays every day in month on x-axis (2010)

Hi

I have a column of dates for a month which do not include every day - the activity I'm plotting only occurs 3-4 days a week and that's all I'm interested in charting.

However when I display the column as the x-axis Excel auto-populates every day of the month. Not a show-stopper but annoying and I'd really just like the dates I have data for.

Any tips?

Thanks - just tried that now and while it does remove the blank bars on the chart for the days I don't want, the x-axis now displays the dates as number strings - i.e. April 1, 2014 (1/4/2014 in the data column) displays as '41730'...

Thanks - all sorted. I must have tried too many text/ number/ interval changes and confused myself because I tried from scratch again and the dates now display correctly without unwanted days.
