    Dynamic chart requirement

    Hello to everyone,

Please help me to solve this.

    i've 5 columns in pivot

Column 1 : Time (Minute wise for 24 hours, 7days).
Column 2 to 5 : data fields for 4 objects.

I've created a graph by clicking F11. Need to see chart (time on x-axis, performance on Y-axis) of those 4 objects day by day in single chart.

one option is selecting pivot chart filter plane, & changing the day from there. But i want another quickest form.

Here is my requirement : I want 7 radio buttons for 7 days of the week. By clicking on each radio button, chart should change to the respective day.

Hope i am clear on the requirement.

PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED IMAGE IF REQUIREDUntitled.jpg

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Dynamic chart requirement

The workbook contains just a chart sheet. No data. No pivot table, nothing to filter on or build something on. That's not sufficient to answer your rather complex question.

In a simple way, my requirement is by clicking on radio button, y-axis category should change. If you still want data.. below is the attached sheet.

    Re: Dynamic chart requirement

OK, I can see the workbook and there is a sheet with data. 40,000 rows.

    >> i've 5 columns in pivot

    I don't see any pivot.

Can you please post the file that relates to your question?

Please post a file with sample data. We don't need 40,000 rows. A few hundred will be sufficient to illustrate your point. More important than ALL THE ROWS is that you include the scenario you describe in your question.

What answer? From where? And what is the answer?

If you throw such a question into this community, without providing sufficient information to present a solution, then, please tell what the answer to your incomprehensible question was.

This forum is about sharing how to do things. You posted a question and people tried to help you.

If you have a solution, please post this here, even if the solution was not found on this site.

This is only fair to the people who spent time to try and help you. We don't get paid. Our only gain is knowledge. So, help us increase our knowledge: Post the answer to your question.

    Re: Dynamic chart requirement

    Dear Teylyn..

I've a due respect to this forum..for any critical assistance i always depend on it..And people also helped me. I've posted answers for some questions too in the past.

What do you mean by "imcomprehensible question" ? Please read by previous replies. my question is very simple. With the help of Radio buttons i should be able to change the axis category..(like daywise sales.. if i click Sunday (button) data should change to it).

Instead of providing any solution.. you keep on asking questions which have little importance.

It is my question. So obviously i didn't get the thought of posting the answer. However i am always there to share my knowledge with you guys. Also whoever trying to find the solution or know the solution could be better knowledgeable than me. So the question of posting won't arise generally.

If you had posted me to tell the answer (A simple one liner reply) & i didn't do it then you can say that.

Below is the attached excel sheet with explanation.

    Thank you.

    Re: Dynamic chart requirement

    Dear raja_puligadda,

Your question is about filtering data for a chart. It contains a broken image link.
The first file you posted contains just a chart, no data.
The second file you posted contains a chart and data that is not connected to the chart.

I was trying to figure out how your chart and your data are related, so your question can be answered. If you find these questions for clarification have little importance, then I'm sorry, but it's really hard to help.

Why did you not post the file with the pivot tables? You could have had an answer very quickly.

    Dear Teylyn..

You are asking the same questions again & again.. Lets stop this argument please.. As we all working in reputed companies, its not possible always to share the data. I would have posted the data immediately if it is possible.

Also you replied as if i am stealing something or doing something wrong.. which is not fair.

    Re: Dynamic chart requirement

    Dear raja,

maybe you would understand my point of view if you tried to answer questions. It changes your perspective.

When we ask for sample files, it's because some things can only be analysed or understood with sample data. Charts heavily depend on the underlying data structure. Dynamic charts cannot be created without understanding and manipulating the data source. A question on how to make a very specific chart dynamic requires precise knowledge about the data source for that specific chart.

You don't need to share your company's confidential data. It's easy enough to create a data sample with de-sensitised dummy data. It's about how the chart and the data relate, not what the company names or person names are. So just replace real names with "Name A", "Name B" etc, and post that.

Yes, I was asking several times for a sample file with chart and data. And I could not answer your question without that information.

I'm not accusing you of doing anything wrong. I only asked for more information. I really want to help, you know. That's what I do here. And it would have been fun working on your question. I was interested. But I could not do anything with the files as they were posted. So I asked for more information. That's how this forum works.

    cheers, teylyn
