Histogram or Graph of Lottery results

    Hi,
I thought I would take a look at plotting the powerball lottery results to see if there are numbers that are drawn more frequently or conversely, if there are numbers that are drawn less frequently. In a perfect random drawing of numbers over time, the bars of the histogram should be all level. I would like to test it.
I cant figure out the function or tool to set it up. I am using Excel 2010. The data set for approx 1600 drawings is attached.
    Thank you

Here is your data using the Histogram option in the ANALYSIS TOOLPACK add-in

Note that it appears that the numbers were originally only up to 50, then 55 then 65 then 69. Whether there is any statistical difference between values, you'd need to do more analysis (t tests for example).
On a side note, even if there was a significant digit with say number 13, was it because for a while, they used a lighter or heavier ball with that number on it? Does it matter now because they probably replace the balls every so often? Or is simply an outlier. In statistics, nothing is impossible, just 99.99% uncertain.

Re: Histogram or Graph of Lottery results

ok, Thank you, That is the right test/tool.
Lets hope that one ball is not heavier or lighter than the others. That would rig the game.

    thanks for your help

    Pete
