Trend lines

Hi, all.

I new to excel, but I'm trying to get to grips with it.

I may trying to project a forecast for the next year.

Is this possible ? as I have been told to do this using the trend line function.
I have had a look, but I beats me and I don't know where to start. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
