I like this approach for my purposes... using a fake data set to mark the graph and then using the deviation (error bars) with an exagerated error to make the line show up.

I think I understand what the guy wants above... the space between 1 and 10 equals 10 and 100 and 100 to 1000... he wants to expand only the section...

To me a different graph would be in order and a use of a different data range needs to be used.
