Thread: mystery of the missing lines

strange one this. I have a line type graph plotting two sets of values. The value markers display but the lines do not. Have tried using both default & custom colours, changing line type & weight settings, setting background fill to 'none'... but still no lines.

Legend display shows line-with-marker, preview button in wizard shows markers without lines.

Using Excel 2002

In the spreadsheet, are your data continuous, or are they blanks interspersed between data points?

yes there are gaps in the data (plotted data are totals/averages for preceding week, calculated from previous 7 rows) - is that the problem?

Is there a solution other than redesigning the sheet?

In the Tools->options dialog->chart tab is a set of checkboxes that determine how you want excel to handle empty cells. One of those choices should be to interpolate rather than leave gaps. See if that helps.
