Morning,
I have a chart which plots data for a month and is seperated by days and dates. I need to put vertical lines on the chart to seperate the days, if I use vertical gridlines it puts a line for every date.
At the moment I am having to draw the lines on manuallywhich isn't much fun as I have to do it over 200 times.
I have attached an example.
Any help will be much appreciated - thanks.
I approached your problem undertaking the following steps
1. right-clicked the data table and selected clear to remove the data table
2. right-clicked the plot area and selected chart options
3. on the Gridlines tab checked the Major gridlines check box for the X Axis
3b. clicked OK
4. right-clicked on the X axis gridlines and selected Format Gridlines
5. changed the Number of categories between tickmarks to 4
6. clicked OK
7. right-clicked the plot area and selected chart options
8. on the Data Table tab checked the Show data table check box
9. clicked OK
I think this is what you are looking for.
Thanks for that its certainly solved the problem for September but what happens in October which has 5 Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays but only 4 Thursdays and Fridays.
Thanks again
can you post a sample of these other months?
I have attached October's data
ultra vires,
Gridlines will not do the trick. You may want to introduce a new series (X,Y) combined with 'dummy' error bars. See the following article for guidance.
