Thread: Qualitative event data charting problem

Hi,


I am trying to chart time series qualitative data (coded events) using Excel 2007. I have been able to use the X/Y scatter chart to plot the events by time, but I cannot label the data points in the chart with their appropriate text code (it comes up as a zero, no matter how I format that column).

I've attached a sample file that shows what I'm talking about. What I really need is a single string of events, spaced appropriately given the time they were coded, and labeled with the text code itself.

Any help with this is sincerely appreciated - I have searched quite a bit on this forum and others to try and find examples and either it's not a common problem, or I am naive as to what to search for.
