Pivot table to Clustered Column Chart

I'm trying to help someone with a problem. They have hundreds of these charts to make and we are using a pivot table to generate these charts. Basically I have 3 columns, first is the Month, the next two are numerical data. What I'm trying to figure out is if its possible to have the month be italicized if there is no data in either of the two columns as opposed to just a 0. I hope my question is clear, if not I'll try to clarify. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

    Edit:
I think I just came up with a solution that would work. I'm just going to add an * by such cases instead of italics, it will do the same job.

Your solution is probably the easiest approach.

You can not format individual labels within the axis, even with code.
