trouble creating graph to specific format

    hey,

im not entirely sure how i would go about creating a graph from a set of data where i have different departments and activities within these departments. i would like to be able to group these activities into their respective categories and then separate them into the departments all on the same graph.
The frequency of the activity is plotted on a calendar in the worksheet and these values will be taken for the y axis in order to plot the amount of jobs done over a date range.

i have attached a picture of how the graph should roughly look
    thanks, alan

    Hi Alan

you basicall need to lay out your data in a grid, where the columns are titled

    H/S, Standard, Regulatory, Overall

    and the rows are

    Dept1
    Dept2
    Dept3
    etc

Then enter your totals into this grid and create a clustered column chart with your data series in rows. Attached file should illustrate.

If your data is in a big table with many lines for departments, you may want to look into pivot tables to summarise your data and present it with pivot charts.

    Hope that helps
