bar chart help

hi i'm looking to know how i can insert different coloured sections into the background of a bar chart
the first pic i have attached is th bar chart in excel
the second is a rough idea of what i want it to look like
any help would be much appreciated

You can create the bands with additional series plotted as columns.

Create Column chart based on A1:H4 plot by columns
Move first 5 series to secondary axis
format plot area a green or top colour
format Amber band with colour
Set Overlap =100
set gap = 0

i must be doin somethin wrong because i ended up with this, any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong

The only thing I forget to include was the deleting of the secondary values axis, which will make the series on the secondary axis use the primary axis scale.

The other things are all formatting, such as plotarea and columns to remove borders and set colours.
