I have a bar graph using two different data series. I want to display the values for series 2 at the outside end position of series 1, but I've only been able to figure out how to display it at the outside end position of series 2. Is there any way to make the data labels for series 1 the values for series 2?
Basically, series 1 is charting assets over the years, and series 2 is a % change formula I would like to display above the bar graph for each year.
One way, not elegant but workable, is to add a third data series using the values from the first series as the data and the valus that show the % change as the data labels for the third series.
Format the data labels to show the way you want (PHD has some great tips on chart label formatting)
Set the third series name to "" and the fill to No Fill and the border to No Line.
Depending on your chart type you may need to put the third series on the second axis to get alignment correct.
Wont the incorrect value at the top of the column be mis-leading?
You can use this free addin to assign data labels to values in cells.

Thanks for the link to that add-in. The only problem is that I'm trying to send this spreadsheet to someone else who can later add data for following years, so he would also have to get the add-in to make changes to the labels, which might be difficult.
As for the chart being misleading, the % change numbers are so different from the actual values of the assets that the implication of what the % numbers represent is fairly clear.
Jbently, how would I make the data labels for the third series the values for series 2 when the values for that third series are the inputs from series 1? Wouldn't the labels just come out as the the input values (the values for series 1)?
Can you post example workbook of your chart and the data?
