Question Chart Categories

Please Register to Remove these Ads

Hello,

I am having a charting category issue.

I am building a monthly budget spreadsheet using Excel '07. I inserted a 3D pie chart highlighting C2:C37 (categories) and D2:D37 (withdrawal amounts) to visually illustrate how much I am spending on bills, gas, food, fast food, etc. However, I cannot get Excel to recognize multiple instances of "household/food" as a single entity and lump the corresponding totals into a single category, so I get a myriad of slivers representing individual purchases, as opposed to the broad categories I desire. Any suggestions?

I am grateful for any help you may be able to offer.

Attached is a screenshot of the chart in its present, useless form. (Pertinent private information has been blurred out.)

Thank you!
Flavor Dave

Re: Chart Categories

Never mind; found the solution in the PivotTable suggestion by Andy Pope in a thread towards the end of the page. Thanks!
