Line & Column Graph Issue

Please Register to Remove these Ads

Hello everyone, I'm having some trouble with a chart I put together. The lines are fine, but the columns are whack.

- The green bars (forecasted upside effect) should start at 0 and have no area fill.
- The red bars (forecasted downside effect) should start at 0 and be inverted (they are all negative values) with no area fill.
- The black bars (change in revenue) should start at 0 and fill in the areas of the forecasted upside or downside, whichever applies, so inverted if negative.
- All 3 should be on the same "axis". Here's what I mean: http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/4176/chartx.jpg

I'm sure this is a simple issue, but I'm an excel scrub despite my enjoyment for playing with numbers so it would be cool to learn how to do this. Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

A side question that I don't know the answer to:
It would be nice to have a dashed vertical line to distinguish between the past and forecasted numbers.

Here is the chart! : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q4EGPF1L

Re: Line & Column Graph Issue

You need to use the clustered column chart type and set the Overlap to 100.
For sorting out the Invert if negative so you control the colours see this page
http://www.andypope.info/charts/Invertneg.htm

The dashed line is an error bar on a lines series placed on the secondary axis.
Just place a 1 in column G where you want lines to appear.
