You can use a pivot table/chart to produce this chart.

You will need to add 2 extra fields to your data for MonthName and Year.

Open is a calculated item, summing the Status items. This gives the same information as the Total column, which is not included in charts.

Andy,

No...

The Line chart should show the number of items opened in a month. The one you have done is correct. But the vertical Bars are incorrect because- "In the Bar chart, the items opened in previous months should get carry forward to existing month if they are not closed". Please see my initial attachment.

You need to construct a formula that will count rows that have information of a given month.

My brain is fried at the moments as I can not construct one, given the information in your data. I will try later.
