How to create single marker on the line chart?

Please Register to Remove these Ads

I wish to randomly place a marker on the line chart at my desired point.
Is there a way to make it without having every points being labeled?

What is the code for this?

You could add another series with only the required points being plotted.

Post example workbook of you current chart if you need more help.

Erm, my problem is I hope to create something like placing a single marker on my desired point. It's just like having a simulation, and you place a marker on a random point of the simulated waveform to get the value of it instead of of having every points of the waveform being labelled like what Excel did.

Re: How to create single marker on the line chart?

You are using jargon to describe your problem so I am none the wiser.
What do you mean by simulation or waveform?

If you had posted example as requested maybe those terms would have been more easily understood.

Is this something you can work with? The scroll bar allows you to label any one of the charted points.

Re: How to create single marker on the line chart?

I have a line chart comprises of 2500 data points, so I don't think line chart with markers at each data values could be my solution.

What I really need is I am able to generate my own marker, and put on one of the data values

So how does my example not meet with your description?

You can use autoshapes or pictures to create custom markers.
Copy the shape, select the series, select the specific data point and Paste.

Re: How to create single marker on the line chart?

Sir, correct me if I'm wrong.

So I am going to use custom drawing/autoshapes to create my desired marker. Then I use the way you label line chart to show the data values of my desired point then I placed my custom marker on it.

Thanks a lot.

Re: How to create single marker on the line chart?

Hi Sir,

I found that the X Value and Y Value under the tab of Data Labels of Chart Option are marked with Green Square instead of tick in your example.
But I could not do so if generate a chart using my own excel.

I'm using Excel 2003

Re: How to create single marker on the line chart?

That would suggest that you applied a data label to a single data point.

The green box denotes mixed choices. Some points have a data label others don't.
