Chart Trend Line

Where can I find the formula used to create a trend line in a chart?

Can I use the trend line formula to extract data for use elsewhere in a spreadsheet?

For example: I have a series of scattered data points (y=Area, x=Price). I want to be able to plug into a worksheet a new series of Area/Price data points using the data along the trend line.

This is my first time here and I will appreciate any help you can give!!

Re: Chart Trend Line

Welcome to the forum.

Right-click. Displaying the formula on the chart is an option for the trendline.

To get the parameters of the trensdline, you can use LINEST; see Help.

For details, you'd need to post a workbook.

Re: Chart Trend Line

LINEST appears to be what I need. Thank you for the quick reply.
