Hello,
I am looking to create a second x-axis with a different value set. The attached chart outlines the number of incidents (or outages) that have ocurred over the past 3 months. the x- axis identifies the number of incidents.
I would like to have a second x-axis on the right hand side of the chart with a percentage value. Also, I would need the range between 0%-100%.
Can this be done?
Thanks in advance,
Nathan
Hi Nathan,
as a general rule, Excel can chart only off numbers that you provide. Charts can not analyse your data and calculate percentages. You will have to set up your data with formulas to do that.
In order to show a secondary axis, you have to have a data series in your chart that you can assign to a secondary axis. By the way, the horizontal axis is the X axis, I assume that you want a second value axis, which is the Y axis in your case
The way your data is laid out, you'll probably want to explore Pivot tables and charts, where you can do number crunching like totals, percentages, etc, and then plot on the chart.

Avoid pie charts with more than two data points. Why? See here (pdf, 559 kb). The only acceptable pie chart is here.
