Hi all, amazing community going on here.
I've got a column of times (not in any date format, just a list of numbers) like this:
0
5
7
13
20
etc
Each number represents a time, in seconds, from t=0.
Next to each of those times I have a few columns of temperatures. These temperature measurements are far from complete, so where there was no measurement there is just an empty cell. See attachment.
I would like to graph these temperature measurements with time on the x-axis. When I use the chart wizard (Excel 2003) and select a line graph versus time, none of my data shows up in the chart. Also, when I select my x-axis to be 'time' the chart shows dates - not good. When I go to change the time scale within the chart I can't select anything smaller than one day.
I just want to graph my data points versus time!! I'd like the chart to ignore points where there was no temperature data, and preferably I'd like the lines to be smooth.
Such a simple problem that's driving me crazy. Any clues?
Select all data you have -> Insert -> Scatter -> Choose Scatter with smoothe lines and Markers or only MArkers

Thanks Zbor. I have actually tried this. But for some reason the lines just don't appear in the chart. Note, however, that the lines are there!! If I click on the graph I can see data points appear where the line should be. I've tried changing the line colour, but that doesn't help. Any other thoughts? I've attached the file with my scatter diagram for reference.
OK, I've solved the problem - I had to turn on "plot empty cells as interpolated" in tools/options/chart.
Thank you for your efforts.
Look here.. I can't get lines but I hope markers will be enough![]()
