Hello everyone!
First time poster here :-)
I'm looking for a way to add annotations (in the form of callouts - you know, a box with a line pointing to the point annotated) to a line or bar graph - searched the Internet high and wide and came up with nothing...
I can do this manually, but is there a way to associate some data with one of the charted data sets, or maybe superimpose an X-Y chart on the original?
Any ideas will be muchly appreciated :-)
Thanks
Hello kolsky,
welcome to the forum.
You could create your text in a range of cells and then use that range as data labels that you assign with the Chart Labeler Add-in (download here http://www.appspro.com/Utilities/ChartLabeler.htm).
You can then format the data label(s) with a border and a different colored background. But the call-out style will be difficult to achieve.
Thank you for the reply, but I send this spreadsheet around and the people who use it may not be able to install any addons.
As the immortal words of my 5 year old --> 'BOO'
:-)
The add-on does not have to be installed for people to see the labels created by it.
In fact, the labels are even dynamic in so far that you can edit the range that the labels refer to and they will update in the chart. The only time you need to run the Chart Labeler again is when new data points are added to the labelled series.
