Okay here goes: I'm trying to make a chart for work out of some data we have been keeping for tracking performance numbers of our associates. I have attached a sample data set so it will be easier to explain! The first column with the numbers 105,25,106 represent each associate. Their performance numbers for each week are listed under the respective dates. I would like a line graph with the associate representative number (105,25,106 etc) on the primary y-axis, the dates along the x-axis and the performance numbers on the secondary y-axis so it will be easy for each associate to find their number and track their performance. Every time I attempt this, excel puts the performance numbers on the primary y, associates on the x and a legend with the dates. When I switch the row/column under the data select option, it switches the dates to the x axis and associates in the legend. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated!
Hello teroot, welcome to the forum
I can't quite picture what you mean by putting the associate rep number on the Y axis. These are the names for the data series. The Y axis shows numeric data, not series labels.
In the attached file you see a chart with each rep's data plotted as a line.
You could put a data label on a single data point instead of using a legend to identify the series, but these will run into each other when your data points are very close together.
Thanks for the response teylyn! What you posted is actually almost exactly what I was looking for. In my head I had the data labels along the primary y axis and then the performance numbers along the secondary y axis (basically a mirror image of what you gave me) but this will work just fine! The performance numbers should only be within 15-30 so I can change the minimum value to space out the labels a bit and move the chart to a separate sheet to enlarge it for printing. Thanks for the help!
