Hello all. I have some bar graphs working just fine right now. However, I would like to specify a range of height areas in those bars to be colored seperatly from the rest.
I did a google search and not much information came my way.
I hope I explained what I'm trying to do well.
Hello excel_101,
welcome to the forum.
Charts are very dependent on the data layout, so you will get better advice if you post a sample of your data and the chart you've developed so far.
Click Go Advanced below and then the paper clip icon to attach a file.
cheers
Thank you for your response.
Here is what the chart looks like. Nothing really fancy at this point.
What I'd like, is some simple algorithm that colors all sections on each bar that protrudes over 40 in height, and less than 60 in height.
By doing this, I could have many areas on these bars color-coded.
Or I could even use a simpler system, such as coloring any part of the bars above point 40. Then I can just apply another method to then change color again on the bars for all areas above 60 in height.
I hope that sums things up.
excel_101,
do yourself a favour and loose the 3D aspect. It is counterproductive to the readability of the chart.
Post an Excel file with the actual data that feeds the chart and specify which data points you would like to color code.
This will require some elaborate and refined layout of your data table, but it can be done.
Just don't insist on 3D.
If you are wanting to colour the section of a column above a certain point, rather than the whole column, you will not be able to do that using 3d style charts.
With a 2d chart it would be possible using additional data series.
As teylyn suggests post an example workbook
