Morning everyone,
My office is looking to make the move from Excel 2003 to Excel 2007. However, we have reports coming from two different sources (with different colors). These off-colored reports would be converted automatically in 2003 when opened. Is there a way to mirror this functionality in Excel 2007? I'm open to virtually any suggestion, whether its Macro's or configuration.
Thanks,
Aardvark
Hi Aardvark,
Why not upgrade to 2010 Excel now that it's out?

After looking in Excel Options for an answer, and not finding one, I recorded a macro to change colors.
The macro recorded code like:
I then went to the net and searched for "Excel VBA Theme"ActiveWorkbook.ApplyTheme ActiveWorkbook.Theme.ThemeFontScheme.Load
There are many hits you should read to see which one can solve your probelm.

Marvin,
Thanks for getting back to me so quick, I'll have to explore those links and see if I can cook up something. I wish we could upgrade to 2010, however you know how office politics are. In fact, I'm not even a member of IT. I'm a member of the Software Engineering team who was asked to find a solution. If IT knew the chart colors were not converted seamlessly chances are we would be stuck with 2003!
Let me look into it (and your solution) and i'll post back with what I find.
Thanks again,
Aardvark
Still no luck, the only way I have managed to switch the colors on existing charts was to save my chart as a template and apply it. However, I have a few different types of charts (bar, line, pie) and would need to do a template for each one. Am I overlooking something obvious? Is there an add-in or anything that could help me overcome this?
Thanks again,
Aardvark
Hi Aardvark,
I think that Microsoft rewrote the whole charting engine between 2003 and 2007 releases. A lot of things changed between those versions.
I did find http://dearmicrosoftofficeteam.blogs...please_03.html but I'm not sure it helps your question.
