Hello - I have been trying to figure this out all day and wasting a lot of time and I apologize for the fact that I don't have all the right "chart" terminology to explain my problem adequately...
It is simple... I have a 3 Column table in Excel on Sports Events and Media which I want to make into a line or column chart. Column A has the Event Dates & Column B has the corresponding # of media citings for each date. . Column C has the info - Race Day, Off Day, etc... which corresponds to the different colors of each cell in column A.
How can I get this to translate to a chart...it is simple and looks good when I select only Columns A & B - but as soon as I add in Column C it gets confused. In fact, I don't need Column C as it simply explains the contents of Column A, cell by cell. I could get rid of Column C altogether if I could just identify - by color or symbol - each cell (data point?) in Column A??
Does this make sense to anyone??? It seems pretty simple - I just need each Day in a different color and a legend to go with it explaining the color codes?? Is this not possible??? Thank you very much in advance...
You need to use multiple series in the chart based on formula testing column C and output column B value in the correct cell of a table.
Post an example workbook if you need more help.
I've been trying to figure out why my document doesn't save my "series" legends. I go in an edit them but when I save the changes they don't appear.
