Thread: Can a Point Value be Manipulated

Is it possible to manipulate a Point in a SeriesCollection without altering the cells that the points come from? Just a general curiosity.

not sure what you're after. The value of the data point is stored somewhere, typically in a cell, though it can also be stored in -- or calculated by -- a named formula.

What do you want to manipulate? Excel will plot the value of the data point. If the data changes, the point will be re-plotted.

In previous versions of Excel you could drag a data point around on the chart and the underlying data table changed on the fly. But again, data and plot point are an inseparable pair.

Thanks teylyn, I have some calculated values that I do not want to change and they are stored in cells that are plotted. They are in decimal form but are percentages. The decimal form is required for another calculation so the cell values are not changeable. For example, I cannot simply multiply them by 100 to get a percentage change. The chart needs hold values at proper percentages ie: 25 % instead of .25 as per user requirements. Instead of messing with the points I changed the code that sets the cell values using

.Style = "Percent"

and everything works like it should without comprimising the other calculations. Thanks for your response though and I remember being able to drag around the points in 2003 so that is why I asked.
