    Need a qty based calculator

Okay my boss just gave me an ASAP project and I am barely functional in Excel...here is just of it

Okay my boss wants me to build a calculator (Excel) to compute the need qty of products to send out daily to meet a qty deadline. We now 51 days to election, effectively 50...in that time we need to send out 5 million of one piece (we are a commercial print house) and 15 million of another...so he wants the calculator to show what amount needs to go out daily to meet our obligation....so for right now we need to do approx. 92000 of product A and 288000 of product B.....we need to calculator to adjust those daily qty's based on what has shipped....so in other words if today we only ship 60000 of A and 200000 of B what will the needed daily qty be then for us to reach the goal....IDEAS??????

    THANKS

    James Dunn

Re: Need a qty based calculator

    • Put the Beginning date in A1
    • Put the goal of 5M in cell B1
    • On A2, put the date of the first day of printing
    • On B2, put how many were printed
    • In C2, put the formula =B1-B2
    • On A3 put the second day of printing
    • In B3 put the total number printed that day
    • In C3 put =C2-B3
Select cell C3 and copy it, paste it to as many rows of column C as you need

Continue adding days of printing along with number printed that day, it will continue to do the math and show you how many you have to go.

This won't look super pretty but it might give you some ideas.

Re: Need a qty based calculator

Speshul....thanks..sorry maybe I didn't spell it out well....what we need is for each day of the 51 days to show how many items per day we need to ship to make our goal on the 51st day. So if on one of the days we are short the calculator will increase each days "need to ship" qty so that we can meet our goal....basically right now we need to ship approx. 92,000 per day...but if we are short one day that daily "need to ship" qty will increase...does this make sense?????

    Thank you

    Hello James

I assume we are talking about MrExcel? That isn't an "associated site". Our rules, in common with most other Excel forums, prohibit "cross-posting" at any other site, without a link to that thread.

    Here's the full rule:
    8. Don't cross-post without a link. Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. You'll find people are disinclined to respond to cross-posts because they may be wasting their time solving a problem that has been solved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you MUST provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post. Expect cross-posts without a link to be closed
