VLOOKUP issue using date as criterion

    Hello all,

I'm trying to include some functionality on a spreadsheet to identify who is on call 'today', rather than having to scroll down to the appropriate line in a rota.
I'm using VLOOKUP with today's date, which has been created via functions. Even though the function appears to evaluate ok, the VLOOKUP does not appear to detect the date in the first column of the array.
Any help and advice re why this isn't working would be much appreciated. The formula in question is on row 3 within the attached spreadsheet.

    Regards,

Thanks and much appreciated. Will give it a go. Apart from the obvious addition of the zero, what was I doing wrong?
