Can't Freeze entire portion of doc???

I have a spreadsheet on my MAC with 3000 names and addresses. I want to have the names stay stationary and the other information scrollable. I've been expirementing with the "freeze pane" function. However I'm doing this with 3000 names. When I do this it seems to only freeze those names seen on the viewable screne. Even when I follow the instructions. IE " click the field just below and just to the right of the field you want freeze." It either freezes the last 20 or so or the viewable top 50. Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to go about doing this? Or can I move the line it places as a seperator? I know you can move the line you using a pc. Thanks for any and all help.

Then click on cell B2, which would be your first address column entry and click Window -> Freeze Panes. This will freeze both column A, with your names, and row #1 with your column headers (Name, Address, City...)
