Excel 2010 not updating links

Excel files with external links do not update automatically. Have followed all the instructions:
File - Options - Advanced - When calculating this workbook = Update links to other documents unchecked, as recommended in Help. Even though intuitively one would think this has to be checked.

Data - Edit links = Automatic.
Startup prompt = Don't display the alert and update links.

Still not updating automatically. Didn't have that problen in Excel 2007. Help.

Hi Peri1224,

Check if you can manually update few of the links by using option change source ... this will ensure that the source file are there with no changes i.e, row /columns have not been moved or tab has not been deleted / renamed as in this cases you will get an popup box to select the correct tab.... after you confirm this will think some other point. Thanks.

Yes, when clicking Change Source he is updating. He also updates on start up.
And now he seems to update dynamically all of a sudden. Maybe the automatic settings only took effect after booting. Will observe first and get back if not yet ok.

Manually changing source and updating link will correct this problem and this is what I was guessing here as a probable solution
